This past week, we took a quick but refreshing trip to sunny Florida, and it was exactly what our little family needed. We landed Wednesday night around 8 p.m., and my mom was there waiting to pick us up. Just stepping out into that warm Florida air felt amazing after weeks of chilly Virginia weather.

On Thursday, we spent the entire day at SeaWorld, and the kids absolutely loved it. We stayed from the time we arrived all the way until the park closed. One of the highlights was Gunnar riding a roller coaster for the very first time. At first, he was all smiles and excitement, but once it started going faster, he suddenly wasn’t so sure anymore! Still, he was brave and made it through, and it gave us a good laugh afterward.

Friday took us to Disney Springs for a few hours, where we had lunch and let the kids pick out a few things from the Disney store. Later that night, we headed to Port Canaveral for dinner, enjoying the view and the warm breeze.

On Saturday, we grabbed lunch at the pier by the beach before it was time to head back to the airport. We made it home to Virginia around 7:30 p.m. — and immediately felt the temperature difference. After spending the whole trip in the low 80s, none of us were ready to come back to the cold!

Even though it was a short getaway, it was so good for all of us. We made sweet memories, enjoyed some sunshine, and soaked in every moment together. We didn’t want it to end, but we’re grateful for the time we had.
