Two Days until Transplant!

The time is almost here to get my bone marrow transplant! I’ll start with a little bit about what I know for Wednesday. It was basically look like a blood transfusion, just a bag of red blood products going on - no surgery or needles. I matched with an unrelated donor who is a 28 year old male. That’s all I know about him for about a year until I can reach out. The two hard parts coming up are my body continuing to react to the intense chemo from the past week and then ensuring that my body welcomes the donor cells and doesn’t try to reject them. I’ll get lots of preventative medicine to ensure that as best they can.
For now I’m dealing really only with fatigue, some mouth sores and lower appetite. They do expect that I might feel worse as the chemo side affects are still playing out, but as long as I take care of myself, walk, eat and drink I will see the other side of this soon!!
If you haven’t yet, please join me on my new public Instagram account! It gives me something to do and a way to hopefully help others just starting this journey. You can find me at 100daystronger.

Wishing you strength as you face this next stage in your treatment. Hoping your body is very hospitable to those donor cells as they help you to rally all your defenses. Sending you my very best wishes for strength and positivity despite everything.
