Now for a slightly longer update to answer all of the questions!!
Now for a slightly longer update to answer all of the questions!!
First, we have created an online spreadsheet with timeslots for when we need the most help.
Amazingly we have secured drivers for Sam to get to Lindamood Bell and back and are so grateful for this. There are four tabs total, one per kid, including the furry child. Please sign up to drive the girls or walk Peaches if you can! And reach out to me or Larry with any questions.
Second, an update on what’s happening when I fly out to Houston. My dad and I have a one way ticket on Wednesday Sept 3. We’re staying the entire time, likely four months, at the Aishel House run by Chabad which is less than a 5 min walk to the hospital. It’s a one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and will be really nice for both of us, especially when I’m inpatient.
Starting right away on Sept 4 I have a number of pre-chemo appointments to get me ready. I will be part of a randomized trial so I don’t yet know if I’ll be doing the standard of one week of chemo inpatient prior to the transplant or two weeks outpatient but possibly less toxic on the body. I will update when I find out! Once we know which path I’m taking I’ll get the date for my actual transplant.
That’s starts the 100 days timer, about a month inpatient where the biggest thing they’re looking for is complications - infections etc. After about a month I should be able to move back to the Aishel House and spend the remaining 100 days with frequent check ins. I don’t yet know when I’ll be have to have visitors but hopefully during those two months!!
We are so thankful for everyone’s love and support thus far and know that you will continue to do so during the next phase and we love you for it!

We are looking forward to seeing you and meeting your dad. We will be available for a lunch or dinner at your convenience. Can you please share your dad‘s cell phone number or email address? That would be helpful.
We are available to help you both with shopping and any other errands you may need. Travel safely and we look forward to seeing you in just another week.
