As we previously updated on their other support page... here was the latest update on June 14, 2024:

Friends — Thank you so much for your patience in awaiting updates on this family. The past 6 months have been jamb-packed with ups and downs. The roller coaster ride they are on has been hard to caption, and by the time we were ready to update - a new turn to their story would come. However, it is definitely time to send an update, mainly in hopes of lifting these boys up in your thoughts and prayers as they are in need of them.

With the amount of frequent trips they were making to Seattle Children’s Hospital from Spokane, it became clear that closer proximity to level 4 epilepsy care was now a necessity for their family. Brock and Jessica made a very hard but wise decision to move from their beloved PNW to Phoenix, Arizona. I’d love to write a whole page of the reasons why it made sense to make this move - but in summary - it is absolutely where they should be.

Since their move in January, both children have had their share of struggle. Despite the incredible care they are receiving in Phoenix from their team of very capable providers, EIEE is very complex and full of difficult characteristics that make it hard to treat. However, Rocky especially has had a difficult couple of months.

In May, Rocky's seizures were frequent and not relenting even with the administration of rescue meds. They managed at home with oxygen, nebulizer treatments, lots of communication with providers, and in home rescue, but it got to the point of where they no longer felt comfortable managing at home anymore. The Rule family tries to avoid going to the hospital at all costs as it can often lead to exposure of viruses... however, it became clear it was necessary to bring him in. He was admitted in to PICU, and due to one of his lungs collapsing, he was intubated. It was a very scary and difficult time. In true Rocky form, he surprised everyone and was able to come out of intubation after clearing out his lungs.

He was able to go home much quicker than predicted and the family was reunited again (see picture of his first night home, reunited with Braxton). However, on June 9, something switched and he began to have respiratory distress once again with an increase in seizures. They were able to get him in right away with a provider to x-ray his chest - no signs of pneumonia were present. They now have him at home on oxygen and are trying to keep him as comfortable as possible.

Over the last few days, they have had a lot of conversations with their care team of what the next steps might be for Rocky. The decisions that Brock and Jess have had to make are incredibly difficult and heavy. No parent should ever have to have these discussions.

To add to the heaviness, Braxton’s seizures have also increased this week and he is on oxygen as well at the moment. It is all just so much to manage.

Please have these boys, especially Rocky right now, in your thoughts and prayers. There is such a fine balance of giving them their privacy with these updates and allowing them time to process what is happening as it is happening - however, there are times such as these where they need their village to lift them up and pray in the moment. Now is one of those moments.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and think of them! They truly are all rockstars… I’m in awe of their strength, bravery, and faith.

****Just to re-iterate - this "Go Fund Me"page is mainly being used as a way to update everyone on these boys. The amount of decisions and heaviness that is currently on Brock and Jessica's plates makes it very difficult to respond to messages, texts and phone calls. Please know that they absolutely do not want any further donations as we truly have surpassed the financial goal I had set for them. They feel so overwhelmed with gratitude and really wanted me to express that they do not want any more funding. This is just simply a way to keep prayers going and to communicate. I just want to thank everyone for taking the time to read these updates and wrap around this sweet family!****
