Transparency Update ✨

We’ve had a few people ask what the actual costs look like when it comes to IUI and ICI, so I wanted to share a little more transparently.

When you hear “IUI” or “ICI,” it can sound like just one appointment — but it’s usually so much more than that.

There’s the initial consultation (typically $150–$400), ultrasounds for monitoring ($150–$300 each), bloodwork, and medications. Oral medications can range from $20–$150, but if injectables are needed, those alone can be $500–$2,000+. Trigger shots can add another $100–$300. The IUI procedure itself is often $300–$1,000 per cycle.

With donor seed involved, that can be $800–$1,500 per vial, plus shipping and possible storage fees.

All together, one cycle can realistically range anywhere from $1,000 on the very low end to $3,000–$5,000+ depending on what’s needed — and many families require multiple cycles.

Insurance coverage varies so much from plan to plan. In our case, Alex and I will be completely self-pay for this process, which means every appointment, medication, and procedure comes fully out of pocket.

I also want to share that I have endometriosis, which can sometimes make the process more complex. It may mean additional monitoring, possible delays, or extra testing depending on how my body responds. That’s another layer we’re preparing for — emotionally and financially.

We’re sharing this because we want to be open about what this journey truly looks like as we work toward extending our family. It’s emotional, yes — but it’s also a significant financial commitment. Fundraising helps relieve some of that pressure so we can focus on the process itself instead of the constant financial stress behind it.
