Hi! My name is Melanie, Josh's older sister.  I'll be sharing updates here as we love on and support the Morones family through the journey ahead.

The next few days definitely feel like hazing week. Seven medical appointments, a port placement, and two kiddos with their own (pre-scheduled) surgeries. Between all the heavy adulting, there's also the strange adjustment of saying taboo words like cancer and chemotherapy, words that still feel foreign and sharp in the mouth. They become a little more real each time a phone call turns into an appointment, another piece of equipment is introduced, or another reminder appears that this unexpected chapter has truly begun.

Last week, we spent time building this page, trying to think through possible needs and imagine the unimaginable. There were plenty of moments of laughter mixed in. Devyn cracking jokes, all of us wondering aloud what terrible karmic offense she and Josh must have committed in a previous life to be handed such a wonky health onion in this one. (If you know them, you know humor is part of how they cope.)

One thing I heard clearly from Josh and Devyn was how deeply grateful they are for the incredible support system surrounding their family. As we all buckle down and lean into community while Devyn kicks cancer's ass, please know that every meal, message, well-wishing, gift card, ride, and kind word matters more than you know. Thank you for showing up for them, and for reminding them they aren't riding this ride alone.
