The Moody Family
Years ago I made a Moody family flag to hang in the kids' treehouse. I chose the four words: "Love, Loyalty, Adventure, Snacks" as a motto, and we included a hand print from each of us.
Now that we're getting into a rhythm with chemo life, we've decided to be more intentional with the weeks I feel well.
During my last infusion, the oncology nurse gave me a children's book written by one of the former patients at St. Vincent's. It's entitled, Our Adventure Jar, and tells the story of a family fighting breast cancer together. They fill a jar with ideas of fun things to do together on the weeks mom feels good. The rules are that everyone can contribute ideas, but the entire family has to participate when an idea is drawn from the jar.
It seemed to fit right in with our family motto. I made an Adventure Jar for our dining room table, and the kids were immediately excited. They began writing their ideas and quickly filled the jar!
This past week, we've made good use of our healthy week. Fun times have included: Pittock Mansion, views of Mt. Hood & Mt. Saint Helens, Thai food, Handel's ice cream (the best in the world according to National Geographic), picking up our new-to-us Honda Odyssey, watching Mufasa, trip to the Oregon coast to see the sunset at the Peter Iredale shipwreck, elk herd sighting, clam chowder in Astoria, pedicure, and lunch out with friends. We went big for this good week with my aunt.
My 3rd infusion is scheduled for Wednesday, the 15th, so please pray for me especially on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The memories we've made this past week are going to help me get through the upcoming days in bed.
