Taking it's toll

Willow hit the 3-month mark of treatment. I've lost count of how many days and nights our family has spent apart. How many days Wren hasn't gotten to play with her sister. How many times we've taken Willows temperature and had to get in the car and go to the ER. But on Friday it finally happened. For a few days Willow wasn't feeling good. She was tired, weak, dizzy, nauseous and overall didn't feel good. She woke up on Friday with a fever. We waited 30 min and didn't go down. Per protocol, we called her clinic packed our bags and headed in. Within 2 hours, she was getting a blood transfusion and being admitted. The next day, she got platelets and the Dr gave us the warning that she may be here for a while. Her immune system is basically gone. Her body doesn't have the ability to fight off anything. So she'll stay in the hospital, in her room until her numbers come up, and her body can fight things off. How long? We don't know. Aidan and I are taking 3-day shifts. But for now, we live in 2 different places, video call as much as we can and try to keep things together.

I don't even have words. I don't know how your doing this. I do know I am praying for you guys every step of the way. My heart is hurting so much for you and your family. You're so strong and she is so lucky to have you two as parents to help guide her through this such unfair part of life.

It is beyond the imagination what Willow is going through, as parents and her siblings, coping and with this on a daily basis is other-worldly. In this navigation God is here, the love, support of family members, friends, and medical miracle workers behind the scenes, prayers that this too shall pass as Willow's full health is being restored now.

Oh sweet Willow, three months of fighting so hard already. Your strength amazes everyone who loves you. Sending so much love to you, to Wren who’s missing her sister, baby brother and to your whole family as you juggle life between hospital rooms and home. You’re doing an incredible job holding it all together through something no family should have to endure. Praying for rising counts, restful days, and the moment Willow is back home where she belongs!
