The Manning Family
Willow hit the 3-month mark of treatment. I've lost count of how many days and nights our family has spent apart. How many days Wren hasn't gotten to play with her sister. How many times we've taken Willows temperature and had to get in the car and go to the ER. But on Friday it finally happened. For a few days Willow wasn't feeling good. She was tired, weak, dizzy, nauseous and overall didn't feel good. She woke up on Friday with a fever. We waited 30 min and didn't go down. Per protocol, we called her clinic packed our bags and headed in. Within 2 hours, she was getting a blood transfusion and being admitted. The next day, she got platelets and the Dr gave us the warning that she may be here for a while. Her immune system is basically gone. Her body doesn't have the ability to fight off anything. So she'll stay in the hospital, in her room until her numbers come up, and her body can fight things off. How long? We don't know. Aidan and I are taking 3-day shifts. But for now, we live in 2 different places, video call as much as we can and try to keep things together.
