Willow has now been on isolation protocol at the hospital for 12 days. That's 12 days in one room, never allowed to leave her room or have visitors. She's currently trying to overcome the severe neutropenia caused by her last round of chemo. Unfortunately she caught 2 viruses and a fungal infection that she is now also trying to overcome. We were hoping she would be home by her birthday but that is just not going to happen. As parents we are sad she'll be spending her birthday in a room with only Mom and Dad. She puts on a brave face, but we can tell she is down and sad about still being here. The Dr's. Are encouraged with the progress they see, but it's a waiting game. She had 5 different teams of Dr's all working together to give her the best chance possible. We trust them, but this has by far been harder than we expected.
