MRD Test Result

We had the results of the test result on Thursday and the test came back positive meaning that Sky still has Leukemia cells present in her bone marrow. Whilst this is not the result we wanted we have discussed with the medical team and they assure us that they are still positive about the result as the number of cells detected was low. 0.37% of Sky’s bone marrow cells were Leukemia cells. When she was first diagnosed this percentage was 24% so she is progressing well despite it being a little slower than we or the medical team would like. This does result in a change of treatment for Sky with 2 additional treatment periods lasting a month each when she will receive a new targeted chemo drug called BLINA.

The next treatment phase starts on Monday when she will have Vincristine again, another Lumbar puncture with methotrexate delivered into spinal fluid, and she will also start a new daily oral chemo drug called mercaptopurine.

It has been a great week with Sky having been off steroids for over a week and having a little break from chemo. She has been laughing and giggling and mostly like her old self again. She has even stood up a few times and taken a few steps.

We’ve been thankful to have my Nan with us over the past couple of weeks. I’m now off work until July 7th and we’re looking forward to a nice time together and hopefully some nice day trips depending on how Sky is feeling. Maybe even a trip to the zoo will be on the cards!

Onwards and upwards for Sky she is doing well . Little hiccups along the way happen . They can tweak the treatment as they have said . Much love from Peach across the miles xx 🙏🩷x

Holding on to the positive effect the new drug will bring for dear little Skye.
So good to hear that she’s had a good week and lovely day trips to look forward to.

The eternal God is your refuge,
and underneath are the everlasting arms.

In my thoughts and prayers.
