Brooklyn Hayward's Leukemia Fight
My sister's family is going through one of the most difficult times they've ever faced. On March 23rd, my sister Megan and brother in law Rusty's 16 year old daughter, Brooklyn, was diagnosed with a severe flesh eating bacterial infection, which quickly progressed into septic shock.
She spent 4 weeks in the hospital, where she underwent 5 surgeries to remove necrotizing fasciitis and necrotizing myositis, leaving her with several large wounds, and 1 additional surgery to close up and skin graft her wounds.
Thanks to her strength and the incredible care she received, Brooklyn is now home—but her journey to recovery is far from over. She will need ongoing care and time to heal.
This has been a terrifying and overwhelming experience for them, and they are taking things one day at a time as she continues to recover.
Between medical bills, ongoing treatment, and time away from work, the costs have added up quickly and will continue in the months ahead.
We are asking for any support you may be able to give them—whether that’s a donation or simply sharing this page. Every bit will help ease the burden and allow them to continue to focus on Brooklyn's healing and recovery.
Thank you for your support during this incredibly difficult time.
