Yesterday was a good day for Dottie girl! She has made it over 48 hours without any seizures requiring additional medication above and beyond her maintenance doses. She was able to get some rest and enjoyed lots of time out of her bassinet, cuddling with Mama, Dada, Gaga, and Papaw.
Big brother, Charlie, is not allowed in the NICU because of cold and flu season restrictions. We are doing everything we possibly can to make sure that he feels included and connected with Dottie while she is there. Charlie painted some pictures for Dottie’s room and FaceTimed with her while we showed them to her. He had been loving and hugging her “Sister Dinosaur” (he has the matching “Big Brother Dinosaur”) and loading it up with Charlie hugs for the past few days. We took that in so Dottie could get some “cuddles from Charlie” while he talked to her and told her that he loves her. Dottie definitely recognizes Charlie's voice and enjoyed her dinosaur cuddles.
Today, our girl has a more eventful day ahead of her. We are expecting a revolving door of doctors and specialists as everyone returns from the Thanksgiving holiday. We are looking forward to seeing the neurologist that we had seen prior to Dottie’s birth, the one who made the initial diagnosis, as we are curious to hear what she has to say now that Dottie is here. We are also looking forward to the EEG leads being removed and the MRI being completed. Hopefully by the end of today we will have even more pieces of the puzzle filled in and are able to make additional steps forward in Dottie’s care.
