Having grown up in the church, I’ve listened to an innumerable amount of sermons in my lifetime. And oftentimes in sermons, the pastor will talk about someone they know that has been through something in their life that is relevant to the topic they are speaking on, in an effort to make the sermon more relatable. Never in a million years did I ever imagine that our life experiences would be mentioned during a sermon. However, I learned very quickly in this journey with Dottie … her life and our experiences with her through it … they are way bigger than just us. Dottie’s life was always meant for more … and the Lord is using her every single day for His glory. I pray that the words spoken through Pastor Ed Traverse today, reach the hearts that need to hear them. That our story can be used to advance the kingdom.
For those that ask, “how are they able to keep going?” … we are able to keep putting one foot in front of the other, we are able to say, “Lord, thy will be done,” because we have built our lives and our marriage around the Only One who can sustain us. We have a cord of three strands holding us together. That doesn’t mean that it’s easy. It is far from that. It just means that we are never alone. We are able to see good, even when we are completely surrounded in “bad”. We are able to say, “Lord, carry us,” and trust that He will, no matter the circumstances. We are able to say … even if …

Lord, Thy will be done.
