The Grzybowski Family
Four days since her diagnosis and we are figuring things out, and getting the hang of calculating dosages. Then just when we are feeling good, her numbers sit too high during the day, numbers crash low at night and her doctor’s office calls to change up the plan and we try again! This has been what our days have been like. Lots of back and forth with plans, lots of pokes, lots of counting carbs, midnight juice boxes, and always checking our phones to see where her number is at. Through it all we have been incredibly proud of how brave our girl has been. This girl would panic at the sight of a needle and now she is facing it with so much courage! She is curious in understanding how her body works now, she cheers when she sees better numbers, and she communicates how she is feeling so well.
Don’t get me wrong, she also complains a lot about how she doesn’t get a lot of snacks right now and is eager to get back to school. But in time, her new normal will involve more snacks and her school days! This week is all about adjusting, collecting data, and keeping her numbers safe while they figure out what dosages are best for her, which means meals and snacks are kept simple and on a routine while we hang home.
Words can’t even describe how it feels to see the light back in her eyes after watching her fading away in a hospital bed only four days ago. She has made such amazing progress already and we are so thankful we get to be her parents through this!
I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to all of you who have continued to show up with kind words, advice, helpful tips, and encouragement. In addition, those who have contributed to our support page and bought items off of Lyrics T1D Amazon list. The weight of stress on our shoulders is much lighter thanks to all of your generosity! We feel so loved and carried in so many ways! 🖤
