Hi Everyone. Week one of my treatment is complete! The whole experience went as well as I could have hoped. My schedule every week is:
Mondays - metabolic panel and oncology check-up
Tuesdays - immunotherapy and chemotherapy infusions
Wednesdays - quick injection to boost my immune system
Thursdays - quick injection to boost my immune system
I am at the Stanford Cancer Center South Bay A LOT! But it's Stanford so it's like the Ritz Carlton of infusion centers. Everyone there was fantastic at my first infusion. Mom and I even ordered lunch that was delivered right to my infusion chair and it was bomb! Overall, I did great during infusion - no immediate reactions to the meds at all. My scalp cooling helmet wasn't that bad. The only part that sucked was the ice pack booties and mittens I have to wear during one of my chemo drugs. I wear them for about an hour and they were SUPER painful on my feet. I had to take a few breaks.
I felt fine after a full day of treatment, so Mom and I went for a walk that afternoon. The next two days were also pretty good, I just seem to lose steam faster than usual. Friday was the only rough day. I woke up feeling crummy and weird. I forced myself to rest all day and it totally helped. I woke up today (Saturday) feeling a million times better. Overall, I'm just feeling fatigued. I've taken my meds to avoid nausea and vomiting which is so important because I want to keep my appetite and avoid drastic weight loss.
To all of you who have helped us out this week with the boys, come over to visit, and prepared us food - THANK YOU! I want to thank you all for your generosity, willingness to help, and support.
