‘Twas the night before chemo

I will spare you all the more graphic photos of the actual chemo infusion, and instead share this sweet photo taken of Brady and I reading in bed the night before I went for my first chemo infusion.
Overall, I tolerated it pretty well, much better than I anticipated. I definitely didn't feel normal, but I wasn’t miserable. Definitely tired, and my stomach was a bit sensitive but not ill. They give you a bunch of meds to help with the side effects and I think they really helped.
Of course, I gave everyone a good challenge on Monday with some side effects that were worrisome that I could be having an allergic reaction. It wasn’t thankfully. And after some fluids and medication adjustments I was just fine.
I left with a 46 hour slow infusion of chemo that was controlled by a portable pump. I spent Monday through Wednesday at my parents place so that they could take care of me while Taylor took care of Brady at our home. I didnt want Brady to see me sick, and I didnt want to take a chance of accidentally pulling out my chemo infusion while playing with my 4 year old. Thankfully, Taylor’s mom was there to help Taylor and Brady hold it down without Mama, and everyone had a good time. I really appreciated the time I got to spend with my parents, it’s a nice silver lining to all of this. And getting to prioritize rest while my Mom cooks is just the best. Thanks Mom, and thanks Dad for doing all of the dishes!
Wednesday I was so ready to be home with my boys, and received the sweetest welcome home :)
Today is Thursday, and my first day without steroids on board. It is my most tired day, but It’s not so bad.
Round 1 down, 5 to go. Rinse and repeat every other week for 6 cycles. Then, repeat imaging to decide next steps. At that time, I will meet with Dr Campbell from Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore to see if I am a surgical candidate.
In the meantime, Im trying to prioritize my health in all ways that I can to stay strong through treatment and in preparation for surgery. And, enjoying my time with my loved ones.
Thank you all for your ongoing support. Sending you all big hugs and much love, Claire.
