Rough night for Jax last night. Multiple big desats, but at least we could see a few things via monitoring that I can’t see at home. Effectively, despite being on his vent, hes becoming apnic at night and the breaths from the vent are not making ut to his lungs, causing his icygrn levels to nose dive. Rounds are in an hour. He has a swallow study Monday, and they are talking about a FEES study, as they are thinking something is causing his upper airway to not function well. I’m also anticipating an EEG. All of these except the first will require a bed and transport to the main hospital which is full. It’s looking like I may be quite a while.
While I hate asking, here’s a link to our support now page. This is our 4th hospital stay in 2.5 months. I’ve worked about 20 hours since January 6th. My friend Sarah Saylor also helps update that when I’m unable to.
