Hannah’s BP dropped 3 times last night, lower than what they are comfortable with but luckily it would come back up and she didn’t need medication to fix it.
The team is having intense meetings with other doctors at different institutions regarding Hannah’s case & her entire picture, trying to figure out what is happening during these events- the one in May, the event last Tuesday and then the one yesterday. Ideally they would love to be able to do a stress test and visualize her heart but she cannot handle that right now , her heart is too weak/sick so that will have to wait.
Hannah had another ECHO and it has not shown anymore improvement from the 2 previous ECHOs.
Hannah started her first long term medication for heart function today. The team was initially waiting to see how her heart would improve on its own before deciding to start her on any heart functioning medications for long term treatment but given the fact that she had another event yesterday and the last 3 ECHOs haven’t shown any more improvement, they have decided it in her best interest to start her on one to give her heart some support to help. There may be more long term supportive meds in the future but they are taking that slowly because ultimately they would love to see healing and her heart do its job on its own. Though spontaneous healing is looking less likely for her. ( BUT GOD- so please pray for that)
The doctor did say that in talking with the team and just her overall picture right now if he had to predict he said they will be there at least a couple of months. A couple scenarios he gave are :
#1 They find the root cause, are able to do target treatment and home on meds for long road of healing
#2 No root cause found for the myocarditis or these events that keep happening but with time her nutrition, strength and slowly getting better will allow her to go home with medications if needed and continued healing at home.
#3 If she plateaus here and does not improve past where she is now, more discussion has to be done for next steps for her long term.
Right now they need Physical Therapy, Nutrition and her heart function all up to a standard where they feel comfortable to even move her out of the ICU. Along with no repeat events which have them stumped right now.
Prayers for the pieces to come together and a direct explanation of what is happening to her heart when these events happen is what we need!
We need her nutrition, strength and healing to her heart to get her to the point of being able to handle a stress test where they can visualize her heart while she is exerting herself, this may solve some current unknown answers.
Prayers that the Lord would sustain Brit, Louis and Hudson through this as well. It’s been 9 days since this all started and it’s felt like a month already so to hear they will probably be there another couple months was a gut punch.
Thank you all🙏🏻❤️
