Brittany met with Hannah’s new cardiologist that she will be following from here on out. She had met him early on but hadn’t seen him in a while and felt good with him and their discussions today. He was clear and honest with her which is something she appreciated. He was very clear that Hannah is in the very early stages in her healing process with a long road of continued healing and strengthening. He said her  heart failure is a severe case and he is  already seeing scar tissue forming this early on in the healing process which hasn’t been the best case scenario. He is unsure how it will look  throughout and towards the  end of healing in regard to  the shape that her heart will be in since they are already seeing scar tissue forming and she is so early in healing.
Wednesday they plan to do the loop recorder placement . There is some discussion of possibly going home soon so she can continue to heal there. He states they could keep her for another month for OBS but he feels they are as far as they can get with all the testing etc that they can complete right now in this stage. It’s just a road of healing journey from here and Hannah’s psychosocial and emotional healing is just as important as the physical. He feels a home environment a lot of times helps improve the healing journey.
He did state absolutely no exertion for at least a year due to how much damage her heart endured and how severe the heart failure is. He states going on regular walks eventually will be okay and work up to longer walks but nothing past that for a year at least. He said he will be looking into pulmonary hypertension as soon as she gets strong enough as he does believe there is definitely a secondary issue going on. Her case has been very rare so he said he can’t rule that out even if for her it’s usually rare at this stage with kids having TGA.
He stated the need to be gentle with her healing to allow her heart to heal as nicely as possible. The more you push, the harder it works, the worse the scaring could be. Hannah will be going  home on 3 heart medications and her Cardiologist states to prioritize getting lots of protein in her. Her Troponin levels are still elevated but will continue to trend down through next couple months. At this point it is basically a waiting game to see how far and how well her heart heals from this to make a future long term care plan for her.

As always continue to pray & support  them through this journey, it is so appreciated! The outpouring of love and support has been such a true testament to Gods love. Posts will probably have some space in between as we are no longer in the super acute phase like in the beginning (Praise God). We will update from here on out as we have new things to share , to update prayer requests, information etc.

This is wonderful news and a huge praise the family gets to go home to some sort of normalcy. Continuing prayers lifted up for Hannah’s heart’s healing process and for her caretakers to be able to get the rest they need to persevere through this years walk with Hannah’s healing. Also, praying for complete healing of Hannah’s sweet heart to eventually allow her to be a normal kid. 🙏
