The De La Torre Family
Thank you for all the thoughts, prayers, and kindnesses you have extended us in the last few weeks. It's hard to even remember what we have been doing with our time since we found out about the tumor, but it has been filled love and great memories. I do know that in this time we had visitors who came from all over, I finally finished my internship hours (300!) and my two masters classes, Joe had his first day of his new (remote!) job, and we have received so much peace and grace from prayers.
The surgical team just called and told us surgery will be tomorrow at 11:50 CT. Our wonderful doctor, Dr Patel, will aim to resect as much tumor as possible as safely as possible, but I do want to share that the tumor has spread to spots in the brain that are not safe to attempt to reach, so those will remain there (for now!). Since it is a rather large tumor, this surgery should last anywhere between 4-6 hours, or more.
As soon as he can, Joe is planning on updating everyone tomorrow via this website.
A practical update: we did not share our address in this website since it is public, so if you signed up to deliver something please text my sister Lau (650)796-9477 and she will give you what you need.
I know you are all praying for us but if I could ask for a specific intention it would be to please pray that my closest family members and friends feel peace and avoid all anxiety and worry tomorrow during my surgery.
Just wanted to share a sweet moment with Isa this morning via this picture with all of you. I feel so fortunate for this life and all the love I currently feel.
