Update 9/17/2026 - Thank you!

Hello,

Just a quick update:

Dan regained consciousness at the hospital and was able to be weaned off breathing support earlier this week, but remains in critical care where he is being monitored closely. The good news is he is still here with us fighting as hard as he can to recover!

Becka wanted to express her overwhelming gratitude for the incredible support, generosity and kindness that all of you have shown to her family, as well as her heartfelt thanks to the nurses and crew at the Wasatch 100 and the first responders who helped Dan and worked to get him down off the mountain and save his life, and the staff at the U Hospital who continue to watch over him and help him heal.

She has been by his side every day and has read him the messages of love and support. Thank you, all of you, for the love you've been showing to this family! ❤️
