Harley Update – Day 13 ❤️
Today brought some wonderful news mixed with unimaginable heartbreak.
It's official... Harley was officially placed on the heart transplant list this afternoon.❤️ What we've been praying and preparing for is now real. Now we wait for the call that will change her life forever.
We also received more encouraging news from the kidney team today. Her kidney numbers continue to improve, and they were happy to report there is no protein in her urine. Every positive report feels like another reminder that her body is getting stronger and preparing for what's ahead.
One of the sweetest moments of the day came when a little boy Harley met during one of our previous hospital stays came back for his heart transplant follow-up appointment. Jerry stopped by to surprise Harley with a Fourth of July gift bag to help brighten her holiday while she's in the hospital. Thank you so much, Jerry and your family, for your kindness. Seeing a transplant warrior come back smiling and thriving gives us so much hope for Harley's future.
As grateful as we are for today's good news, our hearts are also incredibly heavy.
Many of you know my nephew, Reverance, was born on April 15th. During pregnancy, doctors found many serious medical complications, and after he was born, he was able to go home on hospice. From the very beginning, he proved everyone wrong. He fought harder and longer than anyone expected, making it past every milestone they thought he wouldn't.
This afternoon, sweet Reverance peacefully lost his battle.
There are simply no words for the heartbreak our family is feeling. Please keep his parents, siblings, grandparents, and our entire family in your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this incredible loss while continuing to walk this journey with Harley.
Life can bring so much joy and so much sorrow in the very same day. Tonight, we're holding tightly to hope for Harley while mourning the loss of our precious little Reverance.
Thank you all for continuing to pray for our family. We feel every prayer, every message, and every act of kindness more than you know. ❤️
