Harley Update โ Day 11 โค๏ธ
Today, having Gracie here all day really made our hearts happy. Seeing Harley and Gracie playing together and having those normal-ish childhood moments is the absolute best. Gracie treats Harley just like always and still picks on her baby sister because heart problems don't stop you from being the older sibling. ๐ Those little moments are priceless.
We had some amazing visitors today! First was the Aikey family. If you don't know them, they have a foundation that helps fund congenital heart defect research. Please check them out and help raise awareness for CHD through Baby Beats for CHD Awareness. ๐ Every bit of awareness and support helps families like ours.
When I say they delivered...they DELIVERED! They brought tons of snacks, gift cards, and so much more.
We also received a beautiful care package from Hannah's Care Packages, an incredible organization that blesses families staying in the hospital. Harley absolutely loves the cozy blanket and her Paddington bear. Hubie and I are especially thankful for all the toiletries. It gets incredibly dry in the hospital, so we go through chapstick and lotion like crazy. Having a set here at the hospital and another at the Ronald McDonald House means we don't have to keep hauling everything back and forthโand hopefully we'll stop forgetting things too!
Right after that, Harley's friend Isaac (actually...her first boyfriend) came to visit with his parents, Veronica and Arron. They spent time playing games, building with Legos, and they treated us to dinner. They also spoiled Harley with so many thoughtful gifts. Her favorite was definitely the makeup caboodle. Veronica, you absolutely nailed that gift! Thanks again...don't listen to Isaac. ๐
Isaac's parents are amazing and so much like us. We already know we'll be having a BBQ together when all of this is behind us.
We're ending the evening the best way we know howโwith snack food and movies. We watched Coco (yes, I cried...again ๐ญ) and then Wonka. Harley is currently playing Tamagotchi Life on the Switch while Gracie is curled up in bed with her coloring in Harley's Summerween coloring book. Thank you, Kelli, for thatโit has definitely been put to good use.
Days like today remind us that even while we're waiting for a heart transplant, there are still moments of laughter, sibling arguments, movies, games, and memories being made. Those moments are what keep us going.
As always, thank you for the continued prayers, love, support, meals, gifts, and encouragement. We appreciate every single one of you more than words can express. โค๏ธ๐ซ๐
