Harley Update – Day 10 ❤️
Today was another small step toward our end goal, and we were so thankful it was a day filled with fun, family, and even a little junk food.
The day started with Harley's Godmother bringing her cousin Charlotte, and they also brought Harley's sister, Gracie, to stay for the weekend. They spoiled Harley with some of her favorite snacks—Takis Fuego and pizza rolls from Caprara Bakery in Southgate.
Later, Uncle John came to visit and brought Harley's cousins Carlos, Leila, and Noah. We spent time together in the family lounge playing Headbanz and Super Sushi, making memories and laughing together. It was exactly what Harley needed.
To top off the day, we had Taco Bell for dinner. Harley was beyond excited for her Nacho Fries and a blue raspberry slushie. Don't worry—we made sure she brushed her teeth really well afterward so the staff wouldn't have another reason to worry! They already have enough excitement with the constant blaring of her heart monitor. 😂
Today wasn't just about fun, though. We also met with Harley's transplant surgeon and talked through everything about the transplant process. It was another important milestone on this journey.
Harley also started physical therapy and occupational therapy today. The goal is to keep her as strong and healthy as possible while she waits for her new heart. She'll continue both before and after transplant to help her recover faster, regain her strength, and help her new heart do its job as well as possible.
As I'm writing this, Harley is still awake playing with her new light board (thank you, Karen Lara & Misfit!) and her slime kit (thank you to the Matthew family!). Seeing her smile and just be a kid, even for a little while, is something we'll never take for granted.
Thank you all for continuing to pray, support, and walk this journey with us. Every visit, message, meal, and prayer reminds us that we're not walking this road alone.
One day closer. ❤️
