Seeking a Solution

Hi everyone, thanks for being with us as we continue to seek answers to Katie's health situation. Recently her health has taken a sharp decline after months (maybe years?) of unexplainable seizure-like episodes. Since April 2026 she has progressed from an "episode" every 3-4 weeks to multiple daily episodes. The frequency of episodes picked up significantly in late August which prompted a five-day hospitalization as they ran a multitude of tests and labs.

The good news? So far Katie's lab work, CT scan and video-EEG have all come back as normal. Hooray! This rules out certain things like major tumors, epilepsy and any serious infection.

The bad news? We're still not sure what is going on.

What's Next? Our number one priority right now is to get a diagnosis. It's nearly impossible to seek solutions without understanding the condition. To do this, Katie has gotten several different MRIs over the last few weeks and we're (not so patiently) waiting for those results which will tell us the next right step to take.

Prayers for this week:
  • The right care team to be established & pursue a diagnosis with urgency. Chris & Katie have been unbelievable advocates in their relentless pursuit to get some answers. However, the healthcare system is so complex and we desperately need a higher standard of care to pursue a diagnosis.
  • God's peace to transcend our own understanding. It's incredibly hard to sit in the unknown while we wait for answers. When so much is out of our control, we pray that The Brown Family can be wrapped in God's unwavering love and feel his constant presence.

We are incredibly grateful for the friends and family who are already praying and supporting Katie, Chris, Michael & Gracie. It has been felt and provided hope that we are getting closer and closer to a diagnosis.

With love,
Ginny
