More gains today for our girl, and our hearts are full. πŸ’—

She spoke!!Β 
She looked at Mike and said, β€œI need to go to the bathroom.” And she did exactly that. While that’s the only full sentence so far, she has indicated needing the bathroom non verbally multiple times, and that is huge. 🀩🀩🀩 

Sedation meds are being slowly weaned. We’re alternating amounts and intervals each day, and she’s tolerating the changes.Β 

In speech therapy, she successfully drank out of a straw today and in PT/OT, she walked again with lots of support. She didn’t get to all that was planned but she continued to show off her abilities. Slow, steady, and strong.Β 

Rehab conversations have officially started, which feels very timely and encouraging. No plans yet but general info has been shared with us about the process.Β 

The neuropsychologist completed an initial assessment today. Chelsea was able to follow one and two step directions and correctly identify the month, day, and year when choosing from a short list of three. The neuropsychologist stressed that a low stimulation environment is still critical, with resets between therapies. She also said that once visits resume, they should be very short and later in the day.Β 

As you can tell, it was a very busy day. Before you knew it we hit 3pm and didn’t even notice.Β 

Our family continues to be grateful beyond words…for progress, for patience, and for every single prayer, message, and bit of love sent her way. Please keep them coming!
