Big Steps Forward Today…Literally!

OT, PT, and Speech therapy came for a visit this morning and Chelsea absolutely crushed it! 💥💪🏻💥

She walked about 6 feet with the support of two therapists—first to Mike and then to Kara lifting her feet like she was marching. She gave each of us a hug when she made it to us and both she and we shed a few tears of happiness. After that, she was moved into a chair for the very first time and stayed there for nearly 50 minutes. A huge step forward!

Speech therapy brought more milestones. Chelsea drank from a straw and swallowed an ice chip. We’re told that “sips and chips” are a big celebration in the speech and dietitian world and today definitely deserved celebrating. 🎉 We will continue to allow her to practice between now and tomorrow when speech returns.

All of her therapists were thrilled with her abilities and improvements since they saw her last Friday. Once again, Chelsea shows up extra in everything she does. That’s our girl! 💗

She’s also beginning to initiate speaking. It’s mumbled right now, but paired with her gestures, she made it very clear when she was ready to get back to bed after sitting in her chair. That slight communication meant everything.

We are so grateful, encouraged, and proud of her strength and determination. Thank you all for the continued prayers, love, and support. It truly means more than you know. 💕
