Chelsea Brem and Family
Over the past two days, Chelsea has continued to participate in her inpatient rehab program under the close direction of her medical and therapy teams. Her days remain structured and thoughtfully paced, with therapy focused on mobility, balance, coordination, cognition, and daily functional skills. All activity continues to be guided by her needs, which we appreciate.
Physical Therapy:
Chelsea participated in PT sessions focused on safe mobility and balance. Activities included supervised walking in the hallway, forward, backward, and sideways movement, and balance based exercises designed to challenge stability and motor control. Ball activities were incorporated to support coordination and controlled movement, with an emphasis on form, safety, and endurance. Rest breaks were included as needed. Therapy is hard work! Yesterday, Chelsea spent time in the courtyard participating in a supervised softball related activity with mom and dad joining in too. This allowed her to engage in familiar movement and coordination while remaining within the parameters set by her care team. It also provided a change of environment that allowed us to enjoy the beautiful weather.

Occupational Therapy:
OT sessions focused on functional independence and cognitive engagement through both daily routines and structured activities. Chelsea worked on personal care tasks such as showering and meal routines, as well as functional movement during transitions. Therapy also included balance and coordination games, memory activities, and tasks targeting attention and pattern recognition. Today, Wii Sports was incorporated as part of therapy to support coordination, visual‑motor integration, and standing endurance. We’re pretty sure she had fun showing the OT her Wii skills!

Recreational Therapy:
Yesterday, Chelsea participated in recreational therapy using the game Bounce Off. This activity supported coordination, focus, and engagement while encouraging movement and interaction within a therapeutic framework. She kicked the therapist’s butt and won all but one game.

Vestibular Therapy:
Vestibular therapy for vertigo continue as part of Chelsea’s rehabilitation program. Exercises are being introduced gradually to address balance, visual‑motor coordination, and positional tolerance, with sessions adjusted based on how she responds. She will continue next week, too.

Speech Therapy:
Speech therapy sessions over the past two days focused on language organization, word retrieval, and expressive skills. Yesterday’s session allowed Chelsea to work on structured language tasks consistent with her care plan. Today, therapy included the use of category based strategies to support word finding, such as identifying relationships between words, like what goes together, actions, functions, and groupings. Other activities she did included spelling words and then reading them aloud, as well as practicing descriptive language. All exercises were given to her in a structured, supportive way and were always adjusted based on Chelsea’s response.

These past two days reflect Chelsea’s steady participation, consistent effort, and careful collaboration by Chelsea’s care team. We remain grateful for the thoughtful, measured approach supporting her recovery.
Thank you for the continued prayers, encouragement, and respect for the space needed to support her healing.💗
