Support Registry Update

One sip at a time…progress is still progress!

It was another very restless night for Chelsea. She didn’t get any real sleep, just brief moments of rest, about 30 seconds to a minute at a time before squiggling, reaching for tubes or leads (sometimes successfully), flipping her legs over the side of the bed, or tossing pillows off. Because of that, she had a safety sitter again, which allowed us to get some much needed sleep. We’re grateful for that layer of support.

Some positive steps today: her staples are out as she had two from her intracranial pressure monitor inserted in day 1 and removed on day 5. They’ve been in for 10 days (so if you’re doing the math, we are on day 15). And a big milestone we’re celebrating quietly but deeply: Chelsea was able to drink water from a small medicine cup, both on her own and with assistance. A simple sip, but a meaningful one. One sip at a time really does add up.

We also want to share something from the heart. As much as we want to see people and as much as we know others want to see us it’s hard for us to entertain all visitors right now. Please know this isn’t a lack of love or appreciation. We feel the support, the prayers, the messages, and the care surrounding us, and it means more than we can put into words. We truly hope that in the near future we’ll be able to accommodate everyone in one way or another. Until then, we ask for your understanding and continued grace.

Thank you for walking this road with us—sip by sip, step by step.💗

All these little baby steps will add up over time so hang in there. Glad you both have had a chance to go home and get some real rest so you can be focused on Chelsea at the hospital. Know that we are all there for you and praying for her continued progress.

Sip by sip. Praying. And so are my parents Kara - my Dad remembers your Dad so fondly for showing up to his (my grandfather’s wake) back in 1971, simply because your Dad worked with my Dad. So much generational love and prayers from my family. Sending so much love.
