We spoke with a surgeon and his PA from Pittsburgh yesterday. We were told that because the cancer is so advanced there is close to a 0% chance this surgery will be curative and they anticipate another surgery as the cancer progresses again. They also said that 1 in 3 surgeries result in some kind of major complication because so many organs are affected. The way they described it was, it’s not like one surgery, it’s like having multiple surgeries all at once, and that we can expect for Evan to have at least 8 days in the hospital and then 6-8 weeks active recovery, and about 6 months until feeling normal. He affirmed that Emory is a good hospital for this procedure and we are going forward as planned with that.
