I had all of these symptoms, especially bloating, feeling very full after only a few bits of food, and really bad stomach pain. I of course had no idea it could be Ovarian cancer. Maybe an ulcer, or a gall bladder problem, but not cancer. After about three weeks of stomach pain and bloating, I was encouraged to go to the emergency room. I thank God every day that I listened. There should be more ways to detect this cancer. By the time I was diagnosed, It was stage 3C which means it not only was in my Ovaries but had spread to my abdomen lining. Please pay attention to your bodies and if something doesn't feel right, I might not be. Go get checked. Thank you for all of your support and friendship, and especially your prayers. My surgery is scheduled for September 29 at Mayo in Jacksonville. I will have a complete hysterectomy, and I will have a treatment called HIPEC.
Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is cancer treatment for tumors in your abdominal (peritoneal) cavity. This is the place in your belly that holds your liver, stomach and several other organs. During treatment, surgeons remove cancerous tumors. Then, they circulate heated (“hyperthermic”) chemotherapy drugs inside your belly to kill any remaining cancer cells.
Healthcare providers typically use HIPEC to treat cancer that’s spread (metastasized) from another part of your body to your peritoneal cavity.
I am expected to be in the hospital 3-7 days and then some time at home to recover. I'm not sure how long yet until I meet with the surgeon in a couple of weeks. Then I am expected to have 3 more chemo treatments after the surgery.
Again, thank you all so much for your support. I really appreciate all of you.
Love, Suzanne
