Hello all,

It's been a busy few days. The care team ran into a challenge getting the bandaging right, but we seem to have found a way that sticks (literally). The doctors successfully removed the drain on Tuesday the 21st and Steven has gradually increased his walking distance, doubling or more each day. Spending more time out of bed has significantly helped his neck and head pain, which has led to lowered medications, and increased his motivation to get out and head home.

After Steven's aunt reached out to a few news stations, we received a call from King5 on Wednesday asking if we were available for an interview! Not even two hours later we had an entire camera setup in the hospital room and the story aired that night. It was surreal to have it shared on such a public platform.

Thursday held multiple big wins! Both Physical and Occupational therapy cleared Steven for discharge. The teams emphasized how impressed they are by his determination and resilience. They have no doubt he will have a smooth recovery journey and tackle rehabilitation head on.

He spent much of Thursday in his wheelchair bouncing between the window-lined hallway and his room. He's thoroughly enjoyed being able to visit with more than two people at once now that he can get around the room restrictions 😂 He is handling frequent movement on top of a reduced regimen of medications very well.

We are eagerly looking towards his discharge home in the upcoming days!

With full hearts,
Victoria and Steven
