Well, friends, Friday took a sad turn.
We had known Dad & Mom’s dog was struggling as he aged, but when we got Dad home from the hospital, it was quickly made apparent that sweet old Barlo needed the vet. We said goodbye to the bestest boy with a phenomenal team who provided him with a red velvet Nothing Bundt Cake and the kindest, tenderest care.
To say Dad has had a hard week is an understatement; to move my mom into assisted living Wednesday, have surgery Thursday, and say goodbye to his dog Friday was more than any one person should be asked to bear. Bear it he did, and we’ve spent the weekend eating comfort food, navigating walkers & wheelchairs & knee scooters, and sleeping. We are so grateful for how quickly Home Health came out to get Dad admitted so we could get the ball rolling on PT, OT, and a home health aide to assist with some of the daily activities!
We saw my momma yesterday; MS is a disease exacerbated by stress, so you can imagine how a new place and new people might be a little much for her. We are reminding her that this is temporary, that she is in good hands, that we’ll be visiting constantly, and so will many of you! (Thank you to everyone who’s already made time to go see her and squeeze her and visit her.) We are hoping and praying that as she settles in, some of her cognition returns.
My husband returned to town yesterday and jumped in with both feet, and my sister arrives tonight! Praise God for reinforcements who share the load.
Prayer for literally anything mentioned above would be such a blessing! We hope that the many, numerous ways you’ve blessed us return to each of you tenfold.
Best,
Beth
