Good News, Bad News

Good morning friends, 

I’m typing this from my childhood bed, e x h a u s t e d. Let’s talk about the good from the week, then we’ll talk about the bad.  

Dad had his post op appointment yesterday, where the soft splint was removed and the incision site was healing so nicely that they also took his stitches out. He will be in a boot 24/7 for the next two weeks; after that, Dad can start weight bearing on it. He’ll see Sarah (orthopedic nurse practioner) again 4 weeks from now, which would be 6 weeks from surgery. At that point, he should be totally cleared from the boot to move over to an ankle brace. 

A sitter started yesterday, to spend a few hours with Dad during the day while I’m at work. She’ll be responsible for some light house keeping and keeping Dad company, generally just making sure he isn’t alone if he needs something. A good portion of your donations covered that cost, which is such a gift. 

Now the bad. Mom was admitted back to the hospital last night, with a UTI ( what else?) and they are treating her with sepsis protocol. She was in good spirits when I saw her last night. 

We are currently pricing housekeepers, so if anyone has worked with a company they recommend, please send me their information. We are also discussing hospice for mom, amongst what feels like twelve hundred other smaller but necessary tasks with a list that continues to grow. We are tired, but are pushing through.
