Secondly, please pray… insurance has denied the claims for this out-of-network treatment, leaving the financial responsibility completely on us. The neosurgeon sent our insurance a lengthy 2 page letter today explaining the dire need for surgery, the need for a highly specialized surgeon, and a request for them to approve the claim. 
We were turned down by surgeons here, not willing to touch the brain stem, (just spoke to one yesterday in the UT medical center and was told he would not do it) which is why we went to Mayo. 
I will post as soon as we have an update.
