Today was the deadline to hear from insurance... and we finally received their approval for surgery! π€
πPRAISE THE L-RD!!! π
We will be heading back to the Mayo Clinic on the 23rd.
We are so incredibly blessed and humbled by all the prayers and financial support we have received!
β€οΈTHANK YOU!!β€οΈ
Additionally, it has become extremely apparent that the insurance we have, grateful as we are that they approved us, is not accepting but a very small portion of the bills charged. For instance, the $5942 bill for the MRI Shane had during our 1st visit to May, that we paid for and submitted, was approved yesterday also, but only $45 was 'allowed by the plan'. Additionally, only $139 of the $997 Neurosurgeon visit was approved.
So, only $184 ($45 and $139) of what we paid towards just those 2 bills ($6937) went towards our deductible.
Therefore, the reality of what it will take for us to meet our deductible before they begin to pay 50% of what they approve looks very different now, mathematically, than the way it appears in our Summary of Benefits ... but we refuse to be discouraged and remain incredibly grateful that they 'Approved' us for the surgery so we are now considered 'Insured' andΒ taken out of the Self-Pay status, which would have required us to pay everything upfront in order to have the surgery!
Your financial gifts have enabled us to get this far, as we have had to pay everything out of pocket so far, and it will definitely help us with the financial costs that lies ahead of us!
THANK YOU, again, for your continued prayers and support for us in this journey to provide an opportunity for Shane to obtain a quality of life that will enable him to regain some relief from excruciating daily pain and engage with, and enjoy life once again!
Sincerely, Kathi ππΌ
