By now, many of you have seen the news story about a couple who chose to abort their baby after receiving a disability diagnosis. Our hearts are broken.
We don't share that to judge — we share it because we know a different story. Our story.
Our son Scooter has a disability. And he is one of the greatest gifts God has ever given us. We didn't get to choose the path — but we would choose HIM every single time.
God didn't make a mistake when He chose us to be Scooter's parents. He knew exactly what He was doing. And Scooter has taught us more about love, strength, and joy than we ever could have imagined.
Since having Scooter, we've been blessed with a daughter — and our family feels complete in ways we can't fully put into words. The genetic syndrome Scooter has could appear again if we have more children. That doesn't scare us. That doesn't stop us. If God ever blesses us with another child with a disability, they will be loved fiercely, celebrated loudly, and wanted completely — just like their brother.
