Sarah is currently in her second round of chemo. She is completing this round as an outpatient. She will spend 4-5 hours at the cancer clinic today and then will complete the remaining two days of chemo at home using a fanny pack IV. 

We are praying that this round of chemo reduces the tumors and relieves some of the discomfort Sarah has been feeling from an inflamed liver and fluid build up in her abdomen (which has to be drained every few days). We’ve been told that Sarah may start to feel better and have more energy after the second or third round of chemo, so that is what we are hoping for. 

Sarah is mentally strong and pacing herself for this fight. It reminds me of when she used to run long distance in high school and college. She has her game face on and is focused on getting to the next stage of the race. If I were cancer, I would not want to be up against her.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support Sarah and the family during this fight. We recognize how special and valuable the support is, as it has allowed Sarah to focus on healing and the girls to focus on childhood. Grant has done an amazing job nursing Sarah while ensuring the girls maintain their routine, with the support of extended family. 

And these girls have definitely inherited their mama’s fierceness. Last weekend Haley’s dance team won first place in their dance competition, while Ella scored a pair of goals on the soccer field. I have no doubt that Sarah will continue to inspire her girls, with this battle being no exception.

Thank you so much for the update. The Lord woke me up to pray for all of you last night. I'm normally a good sleeper. I'm praising God that you are getting your second round of chemo as horrid as it is. It is a mighty weapon against the enemy along with all the prayers being prayed for you and your family. Thank you so much for these updates! She is on my mind most days. It’s nice to hear how the girls and Grant are doing too. I worry about them but I’m not in contact. I ask my daughter how Haley seems but she is of course a child and isn’t always aware. It’s good to hear that they are staying strong and still living life. I’m sure it’s a roller coaster and emotions change moment to moment. Continue to pray over them.

I’ve been waiting for this update and it is a good one. Chemo is much easier to recover from when you are on your own sofa with 3 or 4 beloved warm bodies near by. So proud of you Sarah! And way to go Ellie and Haley!! Great way to support your mama!!
