6 weeks out from the last chemotherapy infusion, and the goal has been to let my immune system and body recover and get stronger before surgery. The 6 weeks have been full of working my regular work schedule, getting outside as much as possible, “pre-hab” for my upcoming double mastectomy, and repeat imaging/labs. Energy level, appetite, and mental space has been good these last several weeks.
We got great news from the repeat PET scan: it showed a complete response to the chemo with no evidence of disease! There is a possibility that cancer is still present, and we will know more after the pathology report from the mastectomy, but for now, celebrating and praising God for the best possible news from the scan!
The surgery is scheduled for this Thursday at 1pm. I cannot speak highly enough of both surgeons who will be performing the surgery- they have been amazing. And once again, I’m floored by the overwhelming support from my church community, work community, family, and all of you reaching out or leaving comments of encouragement. I feel prepared in every way for Thursday.
