Our sweet girl has mouth sores. After her most recent round of chemo on Friday (3/20), Rosie began to show a reduced appetite and overall decline in her behavior and energy levels. After a few days of not eating and some vomiting, her team decided to have Rosie come into clinic to be seen. After fluids and a a blood transfusion, Rosie began to perk up and the nurses and medical assistant were able to watch her interact more closely. They noticed that she was holding her mouth a certain way and decided she more than likely had mouth sores. Unfortunately, she hates going to the doctor so she wasn’t willing to admit that anything was hurting.
When we explained to her what was going on inside of her mouth and throat with the sores, she was able to admit that her mouth dos hurt really bad. She tried the “magic mouthwash” that they prescribed and was able to get a little more sleep and even eat today!
Poor sweet Rosie is so incredibly miserable, but still trying to smile through it. We just can’t wait to be done with this phase of treatment. Only a month left until maintenance.
