We’ve had a busy couple of weeks. Rosie spent five days in the hospital with flu a when I posted our last update. She was fortunately between treatment phases so it didn’t impact her treatment plan, but when she was supposed to begin her next phase of treatment her lungs were rattling with a cough. Due to the concern for her lungs, her oncologist decided to delay her sedation chemo, which is a lumbar puncture (lp) with chemo directly into her spinal fluid. However, a week later her cough was getting worse not better so we trekked back to the hospital and she was diagnosed with RSV. Once again her lp has been postponed another week. The fear is that there may be complications with the sedation leading to things like intubation or other scary medical needs if they sedate her while her lungs are already struggling. I know her oncology team is amazing and I trust them, but it is very stressful having her treatment deviate from the plan. Please pray for all of the lung related illnesses to end so we can get back on track with treatment.
On a much more positive note, Rosie was the featured “wish kid” at Glencoe High School’s Make A Wish fundraiser and was able to attend the Mr. Glencoe pageant where high school boys competed to be crowned Mr. Glencoe through a series of very entertaining competitions. The school raised $10,000 to send Rosie on her Make A Wish trip to Disney World. This trip is a constant topic of discussion in our house as it is something Rosie is very much looking forward to. She knows that when she goes on her trip, she will be in maintenance and be able to live a much more normal life. We are so grateful to Glencoe for helping Rosie have this light to look forward to.
Sending everyone love ❤️
