Riley Herman
(See the pun I did there. Riley’s and inpatient, and were impatient!)
Last Saturday Riley was transferred to the step-down unit, which is the step before home. Most this week, they’ve been weaning her off her medications and getting her ready to gone home. They thought it could be as early as Wednesday, but then that afternoon her O2 levels dropped to the 80s and they wanted to figure out what’s going on. So they’re taking images and adjusting medications to try to get her O2 levels better and stable. I haven’t heard that she’s not coming home this weekend, but it throws a wrinkle in the plans. Pray that whatever this is gets figured out soon.
This week has been crazy for me because I’m playing a show at a local high school. Luckily it’s not far from Philly, but it’s a lot of back and forth from the hospital and the Ronald McDonald house. So I haven’t been able to be with Riley as much as I’d like to.
We also got the bad news this week that two of our best nurses, our day nurse and one night nurse, will not be coming back. My suspicion is there were issues with the agency which has had a lot of turnover in their main office. Please pray that we can find good replacements for these nurses ASAP!
On another note, we are still missing Riley’s owl though a couple of people have been kind enough to find us replacements online. Thank you Gretchen and Grammy!
