Sweet Sophie was in surgery most of the day and we cannot thank you enough for all of your prayers! Messages flooded in and pictures of friends and family wearing Sophia Strong shirts were sent. Thank you for all the support and well wishes. 

Sophie was pretty anxious going into surgery but the care team helped calm her and got her settled with anesthesiology for her “long nap”. The doctors were pleased with the removal of the entire tumor, her knee reconstruction went well and once I have more details of the femur I can add that as well but the best part was that even through this long surgery Sophie’s vitals remained strong!! 

When they woke her up from surgery we knew she was ok when her response was “you woke me up from my nap!” 

In recovery she was pretty tired but the care team and put a hair net on her Hei Hei and bandaged up his leg to match Sophie. It was pretty cute. 

Please continue to pray as she heals in the hospital for the next week. Pray for Stephanie and Domingo too as they sleep in shifts on a hospital couch and chair while eating hospital food. I’m certain none of it matters to them today knowing that this part is over but please pray this week goes by quickly and that Sophie heals well!

11 rounds of chemo will start up soon but this marks the halfway point and we are rejoicing in that realization today!
