Hi all,
It's been almost a week since I took my radioactive iodine pill. The first day was pretty stressful, just knowing how dangerous I was for other people to be around and that everything I touched was contaminated. It was really anxiety-inducing. The second day, food tasted extra salty. The third day, my mouth felt slimy, and my incision bothered me a little.
Since then, my taste is back to normal and my neck feels fine. My mouth still feels dry, my stomach isn't thrilled with me, and I'm still experiencing brain fog. I re-started my synthetic thyroid hormones on Monday, but it will take time for them to build back up in my system.
Hopefully I will be feeling more "with it" soon. I'm really looking forward to my quarantine period from the RAI ending soon as well. Next week, I'll have a whole body scan to see if all the cancer is gone.
Thanks for checking in on me.
