Pam’s next infusion is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, and her friend Alan G. has signed on as her trusty quest buddy for the day!
So far, Pam has experienced some sort of reaction during every infusion, which has made things a little more adventurous than anyone would prefer. In an effort to prevent another reaction, her care team is adding additional corticosteroids to her pre-medications. Fingers crossed that this will make for a much less eventful infusion day!
There’s also some good news on the logistics front! Her care team has arranged for Pam to administer her immune-system-boosting injection at home, eliminating the need for another trip to the hospital 2–3 days after chemotherapy. One less hospital visit is definitely a win!
Unfortunately, the cumulative effects of treatment are becoming more noticeable. With each infusion, Pam has experienced increasing fatigue and bone pain, making the days following treatment particularly challenging.
Her care team has recommended taking Claritin daily, as it has helped some patients manage treatment-related bone pain. Unfortunately, Pam hasn’t experienced the same relief.
A question for those who have been down this road: If you’ve experienced chemotherapy-related or immune-boosting injection-related bone pain, have you found anything particularly helpful? Pam would love to hear what worked for you so she can discuss suggestions with her care team.
