Norma Johnson
Norma was moved out of the ICU and onto the general floor, which was encouraging because she appeared to be doing much better this morning.
Unfortunately, things have taken a turn, and the doctors now believe she may have developed an infection. She is experiencing constant pain, but the medical team must be careful with pain medications to avoid complications from excessive narcotic use.
The venom has caused her capillaries to become leaky, allowing fluid to move from her bloodstream into the surrounding tissues. While the diuretics helped remove excess fluid, they have now left her somewhat dehydrated.
Doctors have started her on IV antibiotics and are ordering a CT scan to determine whether there is fluid or infection around her ankle that can be drained, which could help relieve some of the pain and improve her condition.
They are also consulting Poison Control again to see if there are additional recommendations for managing the severe pain associated with the snakebite and its complications.
Thank you for continuing to keep Norma in your thoughts and prayers as she works through this latest challenge.
