Norma continues to make encouraging progress. She is now able to sit up, move around much more comfortably, and walk to the bathroom with the assistance of a walker. She has also started physical therapy, which is an important milestone in her recovery.
One challenge she is facing is with her midline. The venom has affected her blood's clotting factors, causing the line to become clogged. Since she requires frequent medications and IV access, keeping a reliable line is critical. When the line clogs and cannot be cleared, a new IV or line may need to be placed, which unfortunately means additional discomfort and pain.
Despite these setbacks, her overall condition continues to improve. The hope is that she will be discharged tomorrow and continue her recovery through outpatient appointments, follow-up care with her podiatrist, and ongoing physical therapy.
