We learned about Molly’s rare genetic condition on Halloween — our favorite day that’s usually filled with costumes and candy, but for us became something entirely different. Her new geneticist came to speak with us and, with the limited information available, could only share a few‑page PDF about conditions related to Chromosome 18.
There were no clear answers, no roadmap—just unfamiliar words and a lot of uncertainty.

After that conversation, we returned to our room, during the height of COVID, and we were completely alone. No family in the halls. NICU parents could no longer interact with one another. No familiar hugs to steady us. Just the weight of what we had learned and the love we already felt so deeply for our daughter.

The healthcare workers truly did everything they could to help us feel supported during that time, even though restrictions meant we were physically isolated from nearly everyone. Sometimes even from each other. Lindsey’s parents moved into our house and kept our dogs, Gus and Walter, company. Our families drove us to and from the hospital, friends and neighbors helped in the ways they could, but no one was able to meet Molly until she was nearly three or four months old. 

What we couldn’t see then was the community that would grow around us. Over time, we found people who show up, who learn alongside us, who believe in her, who love her for exactly who she is, and believe in her future just as fiercely as we do.

We love Molly beyond words, and this fundraiser is the next step in helping us continue down this path—giving her the support she needs to keep growing, learning, and thriving. We carry big goals for her—goals rooted in possibility and belief. We continue researching innovative therapies, treatments, procedures, and giving her access to the support and opportunities that help her.
