With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Miguel Yañez Roldan, who was born on September 29th 1944 in Mexico City, Mexico and passed away on August
Miguel Yañez Roldan, age 81, of Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, passed away peacefully on August 10th 2026 at his daughter's home in Biloxi, Mississippi, U.S.A. Miguel was born on September, 29th, 1944 in Mexico City, Mexico to Aurora Roldan Tapia & Felipe Yañez Laguna. He grew up in Mexico alongside his four siblings. In 1969 he traveled to Chicago and married his first wife and lifelong friend Dolores Torres Garza. They had their first son Robert Arthur “Bobby” Yañez. Miguel worked as a welder, carpenter and took many free lance jobs throughout his life. He enjoyed working with his hands. He later partnered up with Edessa Perez Coronado in 1976 and they had 3 children together: Miguel Jr, Elizabeth and Yvonne. He enjoyed traveling back and forth from Mexico to Chicago, IL throughout his lifetime.
Miguel was known for his sense of humor and his carpenter skills. He was a beloved partner, father, grandpa, brother, friend and uncle, who cherished the time spent with family and friends in Chicago and Mexico. Miguel was particularly passionate about dancing. He would dance to any genre but really loved danzon and boleros. He would dance any opportunity he had whether he was attending a wedding, quinceañera or even at the beach. In his early 50's while living in Chicago, he and his best friend Rafael “Rafa” Ortega started running. Miguel became very passionate about running. He joined a running club called Chicago United Running Club. Here he met some of his very close friends including his life long partner Minerva Aguirre. He would go on to run countless 5k's, 10k's, a few marathons and even did a triathlon.
Miguel is survived by his life partner Minerva Aguirre, his sister Teresa Yañez Roldan, his brother Jorge Yañez Roldan, his adult children Miguel Yañez Jr, Elizabeth (Yañez) Journet, Yvonne (Yañez) Rodriguez, his six grandchildren Alex Rojas (26), Starla Journet (26), Jayden Journet (23), Izabella Journet (22), Ava Rodriguez ( 10 ), Charlie Sylvester (6), nieces, nephews, and life long friends and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his son Robert Arthur "Bobby" Yañez, Parents: Aurora Roldan Tapia & Felipe Yañez Laguna, older brother Higinio Yañez Roldan and youngest brother Felipe Federico Yañez Roldan.
The passing of Miguel leaves a space that cannot be filled. Yet the memories, lessons, and moments shared will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know Miguel.
Miguel will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Miguel's end of life wish was to be cremated and to have his ashes scattered in Lake Michigan (Chicago) which will be held in private in the near future. In lieu of flowers, although not necessary, the family requests financial gifts venmo'd to his daughter Yvonne Rodriguez or zelled to his daughter Elizabeth. These funds will be used to offset some costs incurred during the last few months of Miguel's life in medical bills, travel costs and cremation costs.
