Michelle and Josh
We have a new pain management Dr from CHLA on our medical team. He has made a multi modality treatment plan for Joshua, and stated it will be months to a year for Joshua to get better. He will never get back to his normal before this trauma began, but will have a new normal and baseline. With the complexity of Joshua’s medical conditions and currently added 3 new medical conditions to him, he wants to take a slow approach to healing as to not disrupt his pain and auto immune disorders and make things harder while getting treatment.
Since Joshua began minimal treatment in December we have seen positive changes, more movement, out of bed about 10% of the time, we have been able to play a few card games at the kitchen table, he eats 1 meal a day in the kitchen almost every day, able to shower 2 times a week now with help, and his overall mood is better. He enjoyed Christmas morning opening gifts and played with some new toys that evening.
He is still dealing with pain 6/10 daily and has moments of discomfort, sadness and anxiety. We are working closely with our medical team to get him therapy and counseling. He still has bad days where he can’t get out of bed, but the pain doctor has given us a lot of hope for the major treatment that should begin in February or March.
While we work through the next several months to a year of treatment, many of the therapies, counseling, and medications are all out of pocket expenses. Please continue to pray for us, financial support, anxiety, and pain relief for Joshua.
